There is no need to peel or shave off the fruit peels and spice skins in this recipe. The skin of many fruits and spices contain many additional nutrients that are so often disregarded when peeled. I opt for the entire fruit and spices when I can receive the entire nutritional content of what the food provides.
It is up to the individual, but why neglect all the added benefits of eating a fruit or spice whole? A powerful food processor will blend up the whole fruit and spice, that more often than not, you will not even notice the peels in your final juice.
It is personal preference when you pulse or blend a juice to its desired consistency. When making a juice it is generally assumed you are blitzing the contents into a liquid format. However, if you are making a juice as a meal replacement, you may opt to leave some contents slightly whole for that added chew sensation.
Glass mason jars are aesthetically fun when eating but most importantly an environmentally friendly reusable option. By storing juice in mason jars it allows you to keep in the freezer for several months.
To avoid glass cracking as liquid solidifies the key is filling juice to the appropriate line. By leaving 1-2 inches at the top, this ample room allows for expansion without breaking.
Keep in mind, the nutritional content is always higher when consumed immediately after making. But freezing juice immediately after it is made aids in keeping the nutritional value as opposed to storing in the fridge. Simply remove frozen juice a couple of hours before consumption, allowing to defrost at room temperature and enjoy a slushy green juice breakfast.
